Siobhan Casey Says

Did you know that there are Christians in Iraq?

"I knew before that there were Christians living in Iraq. They do not, nor does anyone, deserve to be threatened, tortured, or killed."

Have you ever heard about the Chaldean, Assyrian, Syriac Genocide of 1915?
"No"

Ever heard of the Christian city of Alqosh in the North of Iraq?

"No"

Ever heard of Ancient Mesopotamia? The Library of Ashurbanipal? The Epic of Gilgamesh? The Epic of Inanna?

"No, I wish I did."

Any suggestions for the Christians of Iraq?

"Keep the faith. As a practising Catholic, I know God will always be with you and there are many people who are concerned and many who care. I guess I'm not really in a position to suggest anything physically viable in this context... I say this with the best intentions and without meaning to offend: as well as asking God and the Blessed Virgin Mary for help, pray for those who are trying to hurt you and their families. It's what Jesus told us to do: to pray for those who persecute us. I've done it myself in the past and I found that it at least helped me. God be with you and protect you."

Did you know that there are Christians in Iraq?

"I sure hope so considering I'm chaldean, or chaldean/assyrian...or Akkkadian, Babylonian, Sumerian. Dad being an Al-qushi and my mom Tel Keppe."

Have you ever heard about the Chaldean, Assyrian, Syriac Genocide of 1915?

"What, when we were set up by the British? We were helping an enemy force in a war against our sovereign nation, Turkey. You know the same one who granted a Millet, or respect for religous and ethnic minorities to remain as somewhat as a separate entity in a larger empire. I know they went after Assyrians and Armenians....I doubt chaldeans. Much like Sadaam Hussein was against Assyrians, he loved Chaldeans considering one of his right hand men was Chaldean."

Ever heard of the Christian city of Alqosh in the North of Iraq?

"Yeah my Dad was from there, some of the first farming villages ever(8000 b.c.) were found in Northern Iraq, and AlQush was probably one of them. I know it was in the region of the Ancient Akkadian empire, then Assyrian empire."

Ever heard of Ancient Mesopotamia? The Library of Ashurbanipal? The Epic of Gilgamesh? The Epic of Inanna?

Read em, re-read em.

Any suggestions for the Christians of Iraq?

"I know that we are fragmented probably due to western and persian interference. I believe that all sects should unite as one. I know chaldeans love money, and assyrians seem to want power...it'd be a good combination. But if we ever want a Chaldean/Assyrian/Syriac state whether how big or small we must first unite, pool our resources from all of us in the west and help. I say all Christians in the Muslim world need to ally if they want to survive this Jihad, let alone just the syriac ones. Now if there is peace, we should invest all our resources and try to gain territory. Then move back, invest some more, ally with the Coptics in Egypt and the Maronites of Lebanon(who actually have power in there country) and from there anything can happen. Just look at Israel."

"Jesus said it best: "For I was hungry and you gave me no food; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and you did not take me in, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Then they also will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?' Then will he answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me."
